synaptic touch pad driver
Evidently, when I upgraded in place from 20.04LTS to 22.04LTS (both production), the synaptic touch pad driver was not included into the 22.04LTS packages, despite being present in 20.04. Synaptic package manager showed this to be: Synaptics TouchPad driver for X.Org server . I use MATE. The MATE Control Panel (GUI) -> Mouse showed mouse only before I (re)installed using the synaptic package manager the Synaptics TouchPad driver, after which both there are two tabs (as before in 20.04LTS after installing the Synaptics TouchPad driver into 20.04LTS), Mouse as well as Touchpad . The upgrade in place configuration persons perhaps should fix this so that available packages / functionality (in the event of package "renaming" or "consolidation") installed in LTS will be installed in the major version upgrade to the next LTS major production release.
