Unable to try or install 22.04 on a desktop with G41M-Combo mother board

Asked by Syamala Rao Tadigadapa

I have created the boot USB on my Linux Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS running on the same physical machine using the startup disk creator tool. But when booted from the USB disk, the system displays the message GRUB and goes to a clean screen with a line displaying just an underscore cursor and hangs there forever! I have created Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS on this machine with a USB boot disk of course earlier an year back.

Maybe you are seeing the problems that is already described in the release notes: https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/jammy-jellyfish-release-notes/24668

The Ubuntu Desktop images can be slow to boot (taking up to 10 minutes) when booted from a USB drive on a BIOS system. The issue is being investigated, however once the system is installed this is not an issue.

Eventually this is a problem with the graphics adapter that can be handled by adding "nomodeset" to the boot parameters

Can you help with this problem?
