VHS Tapes Copying

Asked by John Rose

I'm using jaunty. I've tried an EzCap (EasyCap) DC60+ usb video grabber to try and 'rip' my vhs tapes: using tvtime, I don't see any picture. Has anybody had any success with a usb video grabber (preferably using jaunty) to do this task successfully? If so, could you post make & model of the usb video grabber & the software used? It would be even better if someone has had success with the EzCap DC60+!

I use xdtv for such tasks.
But I don't know if this "EzCap DC60+" is supported by Linux.

To be true: All I read about this device (independent for Linux, Mac or Windows) is "it's waste of money at all".

Greetings

midnightflash,

What make & model of video grabber have you used successfully for vhs tapes copying?

I'm not able to install xdtv deb because of liblame0 dependency. Synaptic lists liblame0 but doesn't have it on the repositories! Googling shows that there are also other dependency problems (e.g. libavcodec52 - installing that would result in libavcodec-unstripped-52 & dvd-slideshow being removed which is needed by slideshowcreator which I want to get working on jaunty: currently doesn't work as it needs gambas-runtime which has been superceded by gambas2-runtime: so I will have to modify slideshowcreator to work on gambas2: however, not all classes are in the tarball on Sourceforge - waiting for a reply from slideshow's author).

On http://xawdecode.sourceforge.net/htmlpageUS/indexUS.shtml, it states that maybe xdtv is not dead because a company called ttv is going to revive it!

Hauppauge WinTV. An old analog one with BT878 chipset. It's Linux-compatibility is very good.

Can you help with this problem?
