Thanks for your question.

You hit Bug #85488.

There are quite a few workaround in the bug report. I'm now able to successfully use gscan2pdf (http://gscan2pdf.sourceforge.net/download/debian/binary/gscan2pdf_0.9.8_all.deb) with my scanner.

Dear Markus,

It worked once...complete scan of A4.
But then...
The scanner stops somewhere at 2/3 of the A4 area and subsequence trials
responded with unknown report:scanimage:open of device
snapscan:libusb:001:010 failed error during device I/O..
Before that message the line light of the scanner switches on, so there
must be at least some communication.

It looks the same problem as with Xsane program.

I tested the scanner with windows and it works fine, so probably no
scanner fault. With Mirascan (windows progr.) the line source will go
back to the beginning and works fine from thereon.

Hans van Esdonk.

Unfortunatly I'm not able to help you on that problem. In my opionion you'll have to wait until the bug is fixed. I'm waiting for that fix, too.

Hello Hans,

I could get around this bug by installing scanbuttond and starting it with my session. This workaround is described in the bug comments and works for me (maybe for you, too).

Hello Dennis,
I tried this already but it doesn't work.
Strange enough is that sometimes the scanner works both with xsane and
kooka, but the scanner stops after a scan somewhere at 3/4 of the length
when going back to the begin of the scan. A solution is to use windows
to get the light back to the beginning......but I don't like that.
I have no solution for that problem. I guess it's a timing problem but
not sure
Hans
