unable to install fslint

Asked by ankit goel

I was trying to install the duplicate file remover by terminal by issuing
sudo apt install fslint
but i am getting the following errors .
output below :-
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
youtube-downloader : Depends: qml-module-qtquick-controls (>= 5.5.1-1) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libqt5quickwidgets5 (>= 5.5.1-2) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: qt5-image-formats-plugins (>= 5.5.1-2build1) but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

Also i am working on ubuntu 16.04 LTS so pls dont mind it .

"The following packages have unmet dependencies: youtube-downloader"

It seems that the dependency problem was there already before the attempt to install fslint.

For diagnostic purposes please provide the output that you receive for the commands:

uname -a
lsb_release -crid
sudo dpkg --audit
apt-cache policy fslint youtube-downloader qml-module-qtquick-controls libqt5quickwidgets5 qt5-image-formats-plugins

Support for Ubuntu 16.04 as desktop operating system has ended almost a year ago (it is in ESM status which is a paid support extension for servers). You should upgrade to a supported release in due course.

For the current problem: What output do you receive for the command
sudo apt install youtube-downloader qml-module-qtquick-controls libqt5quickwidgets5 qt5-image-formats-plugins

No errors any more. I assume installing fslint will work now.

Remark: "701 not upgraded"
There are lots of package updates available. You should install them with "sudo apt full-upgrade"
