Login problem

Asked by Rahul Singh

We used commands provided on this
https://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-password-protect-the-grub-boot-loader-in-ubuntu/
website. But after completion of all the commands, it shows a blank screen asking for the user name and password.
After entering the relevant data it goes to the ubuntu startup menu but after pressing enter it again returns to the blank screen.
Thank you

Not used this before but seems straight forward. Did you put the password hash in the config file or did you just put "HASH" ?

It should look something like this:
https://sleeplessbeastie.eu/2015/01/06/how-to-password-protect-grub-entries/

(None obfuscated examples are better)

I see that there are two questions created by you, both with password problems.

What is the status of https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/699176 ?

Has that other problem been solved, or is this a different system, or may the problem that you see here be a consequence of the other password problem?

Do you have important data in this system? Do you have a backup of the important files? Is a complete new installation a feasible option?

That has been another system and solved.
Now this one (grub password) is new and I have no data to lose on the PC

We have solved the problem by starting the jumper (on motherboard) in normal mode
