KUbuntu 21.10 liveCD fails
On Dell Optiplex 7060, KUbuntu 21.10 liveCD fails as follows:
[0.124641] x86/cpu: SGX disabled by BIOS
[FAILED] Failed unmounting /cdrom
several SQUASHFS errors to read block, cache or page
[FAILED] Failed to start Ubuntu live CD installer
[FAILED] Failed to start Update UTMP about System Runlevel Changes
The BIOS is the most recent available for download from Dell support.
KUbuntu 21.10 ISO is burned to a USB key. There is no CDROM involved in this boot.
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded or use Torrents to download the file?

MD5 - no, SHA256 - yes.
The SHA256SUM can be found here at page bottom:

On a newer Dell Optiplex 5080, I get no messages at all.
Just a black screen with a hanging or looping system.
The liveCD USB key access light blinks furiously, but nothing happens.

Have you tried a different USB stick?

No.
I can navigate the USB stick in File manager successfully.
Here are the contents of the md5sum.txt file on the USB stick (278 lines).
How about burning yourself a copy and testing on your own PC.

"several SQUASHFS errors to read block, cache or page"
This sounds as if something went wrong when writing the iso file to the USB stick.
If you try the md5sum chck on /casper/
"On a newer Dell Optiplex 5080, I get no messages at all.
Just a black screen with a hanging or looping system."
Have you tried with the option nomodeset?

The md5sum of the /casper/
Web documentation on booting a USB stick with nomodeset is unclear.
Could you kindly supply those instructions here?
Thanks.

I tried the nomodeset option and it worked.
However, I still got the SGX message and the cdrom message.
I got some other messages later on another screen that wizzed by so fast, they were not readable.
Thanks for the help.
