how to define root system on ubuntu 21.04 for intallation

Asked by pat hoolahan

upon install of any version of ubuntu/lubuntu (on a kingston a400 series 240gb ssd) it shows all sda partitions. /dev/sda *etc. the problem i am experiencing is 'no root file system is defined' and 'please correct this from the partitioning menu'.
by all appearances it looks like it should work.
i just have no idea how to set this.
THANKS!!!

Did you set one as the root file system? I'm guessing you used the "something else" option. You need to tell the installer to use a partition for "/" as this is the root file system.

Can you help with this problem?
