Links opening in Firefox instead of default browser

Asked by Sans Namae

When using Synaptic Package Manager, hyperlinks - such as to the Synaptic web site in the Help credits, or more relevantly, the "visit Homepage" option when viewing a package, opens in Firefox, rather than in my default browser (Ungoogled Chromium).

The browser default is respected by everything else on my system. It is unique to Synaptic. I have triple checked, Firefox is not a default for anything.

I have checked the settings and preferences multiple times and can find nothing related to this.

Clicking hyperlinks in Synaptic should use my default browser, and not Firefox.

What is the output of:

update-alternatives --display x-www-browser
update-alternatives --display gnome-www-browser

Thanks

Note that Chromium is ungoogled by default

Thank you for your fast response. I realised where you were going - apologies for the messiness, I made some noob errors, but I have set both of these defaults to ungoogled-chromium.

{{{update-alternatives --display x-www-browser
x-www-browser - auto mode
  link best version is /var/lib/flatpak/app/com.github.Eloston.UngoogledChromium
  link currently points to /var/lib/flatpak/app/com.github.Eloston.UngoogledChromium
  link x-www-browser is /usr/bin/x-www-browser
/home/mor/.var/app/com.github.Eloston.UngoogledChromium - priority 210
/usr/bin/firefox - priority 40
/var/lib/flatpak/app/com.github.Eloston.UngoogledChromium - priority 215}}}

and

{{{update-alternatives --display gnome-www-browser
gnome-www-browser - manual mode
  link best version is /var/lib/flatpak/app/com.github.Eloston.UngoogledChromium
  link currently points to /var/lib/flatpak/app/com.github.Eloston.UngoogledChromium
  link gnome-www-browser is /usr/bin/gnome-www-browser
/usr/bin/firefox - priority 40
/var/lib/flatpak/app/com.github.Eloston.UngoogledChromium - priority 216}}}

EDIT: apologies for the lack of formatting, can't see how to do it.

To be clear, this has not effected the issue. Links in Synaptic continue to launch in Mozilla Firefox.

Seems that the only one using Firefox is gnome-www-browser so if you update the co fig for that to the ungoogled chromium then I'm guessing that will do it.

I'm not sure where you're getting that from - as the output says, the settings currently prioritise Ungoogled Chromium for x and gnome browser defaults, and Firefox is set as a lower priority on both lists.

Edited to add, from update-alternatives --help, "<priority> is an integer; options with higher numbers have higher priority in
  automatic mode."
