Opening with other application PROBLEM DESKTOP

Hello,
Last time i was creating desktop shortcuts and I found problem with opening .desktop file with other app directy from desktop. When I pressed Open with other Application system asked me what App would I like to open file with, but after third ask system is opening this file with last one chosen. In my situation it is Libre Writter. My question is Is there any possibility to change this app?

Now I have to go home/desktop and only from files i can open it with any app I want

Hover over the desktop file..Right Click choose Properties.
There are 3 Tabs - Basic - Permissions - Open With.
Click Open with tab.
Select which application you wish to use.
Then at the bottom click Set as Default.
Close window.
