Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS black screen with a flashing cursor during booting

Asked by Arun Damodar

I'm trying to configure a Dell XPS 15 9500 laptops. It came with Windows 10 Home, and I put Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS on it.

I did the installation and removed Windows during the process, everything seems to work fine, and I got to the Ubuntu desktop.

During the installation I was told that I had to turn off RST in the BIOS and switch to ACHI, which I did: Also, I turned OFF Secure Boot.

After that, everything seemed to install fine, and Ubuntu was up and running. When I reboot, the Dell logo appears, but then it just goes to a black screen with a flashing cursor at the top left. It stays that way forever. Sometimes I'm able to bypass the black screen without doing anything sometimes it stays there forever (No Consistency in booting). Also, I'm able to install the available updates, but the error persists.

I did hardware check and all the tests passed.
My laptop was running fine when I had Windows 10.
