Do you mean Firefox as the search engine....? What does "Firefox is using Google" mean, please?

I meant firefox the browser. Firefox automatically loads as my search . The subject line says search by entering info or use google. I search and it shows that google did the search. This is not the same firefox browser i have on other machines.

You can change your default search engine in Settings and then clicking on Search. Is that what you mean?

Down load your new browser 1st then.

run sudo apt-get purge firefox.
Delete /etc/firefox/ , this is where your preferences and user-profiles are stored.
Delete /usr/lib/firefox/ should it still be there.
Delete /usr/lib/firefox-addons/ should it still be there
