Have you installed video drivers. The make and model of the board is moot in Linux, Its the hardware we are driving.

Can you please provide

sudo lshw -C display
uname -a
lsb_release -a

Thanks

If this is a clean install, did you MD5 check the ISO? Did you verify the CD was ok once initially booted to? If not, why not?

Did you burn the CD as slowly as you could?

Thanks for the immediate reply, it's a clean install. I did not MD5 check the ISO because I don't know how to check it (please tell me how). I did not even verify the CD first. I have tested the CD already on the desktop I'm using now and it works fine and I'm using dual boot OS. The problem is my other computer, I really wanted to totally format it using Ubuntu 8.04 but i cant. What will be the possible problem my friend? Please give me possible solutions. About this:

(Can you please provide

sudo lshw -C display
uname -a
lsb_release -a)

How to do this? I'm sorry I really don't know. I really want to learn more about this Ubuntu.Thank you very much.

Did you stop the installation process after you've seen the message "Low graphics"?

Yes i did stop it but not right away. I've waited 15-20 minutes before stopping.

Oh, I see... You can follow the actionparsnip advice. If you are installing Ubuntu from LiveCD you can load the system directly from CD not installing it on your comp. Then actionparsnip may be shoud help.

You should check the MD5 sum of the CD as the file you have may be corrupted. TCP is a wonderful protocol that enables quality of service BUT it is not infallible and transmission errors do occur. If the file becomes garbaged as it traverses the MANY connection paths in the internet the data can get damaged, rendering the data useless and it WILL give you issues.

Along with the CD images you will see an MD5 sum, you can use these to compute the sum of the image and compare it to the sum in the downloaded MD5SUM

Here is a guide to MD5SUMMING. I *STRONGLY* suggest using it to avoid issues. The MD5SUM files are not there for a laugh or a bet. It's actually *VERY IMPORTANT* to actually AVOID issues
