request new font vazir

Asked by eshagh

Hello.
I request that you add a free font called "vazir" to the Ubuntu repositories.
This font is very popular in Persian, but its manual installation is difficult for most users.
If this font can be added to the main Ubuntu repositories, it will be much easier to install and update. Something like this:
  sudo apt install fonts-vazir
Its GitHub address:
 https://github.com/rastikerdar/vazir-font

I am not the owner and creator of this font, but I can help if I can.
thank you

What is the name of that font family, is it vazer or vazir?
https://fontsfree.net/?s=Vazir

You have to be aware that Ubuntu is copying packages from Debian, and as far as I can see, that font is not available in Debian either.

To bring this font into Ubuntu you should request that it is packaged by Debian. https://wiki.debian.org/RFP

Sorry vazir is right. I used Google Translator for translation and this caused a typo. I apologize.

If you manually download valid TTF files you can use this guide
https://www.wikihow.com/Install-TrueType-Fonts-on-Ubuntu

(I suggest using the 2nd method of making a new sub-folder to add the fonts you manually add. Makes backups easier)

thank you. I have already used these methods.
But if this font is added to Ubuntu repositories, it will be much easier to install and update.
I also sent a request to add a package to Debian support through reportbug, but I do not know if I did it correctly :(
Because no reply was sent to my email after three days.

A temporary solution is probably to use PPA. I have not done this yet, can the githup repository be converted to a deb package automatically? Probably needs a script. Don't have a resource to help me with this?

Why would it need a PPA when you can install any font you want, and easily...?

Thanks for your reply.
But for some people, going to GitHub and downloading the zip file of the latest font and extracting it and copying it to the .fonts folder can be difficult. And the hassle of updating it is even harder.
Anyway, thank you, it's probably a good idea to add this font to the main repositories, but creating a PPA is not a bad idea either.
We have many free Persian fonts that if we want to use the method of download, extraction, copy, etc. for all of them, it will take a long time.
Adding them to the main repositories may even be more difficult and time consuming.
I think creating a PPA would be wiser.

You could make a deb which contains the file and a post install script that adds the font to the system for the user.

You can then host it on a PPA and manage it yourself.

Can you help with this problem?
