firefox 90 unable to install unsigned webextensions

Asked by Lorem Daijoh

Ubuntu 18.04

After updating to FireFox 90 (from 89) all my custom (unsigned) webextensions were disabled and no new unsigned ones could be installed anymore. This used to work if xpinstall.signatures.required was set to false.

Is this an intended change or a bug?

@actionparsnip

Unfortunately I think that is completely unrelated. Not only is it over two years old issue that got resolved, but the issue is about signed extensions. My problem is with unsigned extensions.

The fact that unsigned extensions worked on Ubuntu release (or any Linux release) was a bug. It was fixed here:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1712633

If you want to use unsigned extensions, you'll need to use developer edition, nightly, or ESR.

Can you help with this problem?
