Disable 'move to trash' warning in EOG

Asked by Paul H.

Hi there,

When using Eye Of Gnome, I like to delete images right away when using the DELETE button. However, there is always a prompt that asks me if I am sure. Is there a way to disable this?

Thanks in advance!

I use Nautilus in 9.04. Under Edit->Preferences->Behavior in the zone Trash there is a button "Include a Delete command that bypasses Trash". When it is checked rightclicking on a file gives me an option for permanent deleteng. May be you should look for a similar way in the Eye?

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, no such option is available in EOG.

You can use the "Move to Trash" facility under "Edit" in EOG.

Thanks, but this only moves the picture to trash. What I am looking for, is an option to disable the warning that says "Are you sure to move to trash?" every time I remove an image pressing the DELETE button. So far I could not find a way to avoid this message. Any idea?

If you open your images with gThumb you can move them to trash without the warning message. Right click on an image and under "Open with.." choose gThumb. Then under Edit->Preferences->General uncheck "Ask confirmation before deleting". Now pressing Del sends the file to Trash w/o warning.

Thanks, with this program it is possible indeed. This is exactly what I was looking for. But no way to make this happen in EOG then?

If not, is there a way to jump to the next image using the keyboard "right" key in gThumb? (This is the only major drawback I see at the moment).

PageDown or Up provides loading another image.

I dont thing it is possible in EOG (unless you find a proper plugin for it).

And BTW... if somebody finds a method to do this with EOG... don't hesitate to share!

I think the status should be changed because the problem was not solved with EOG. Paul is just using another software. A solution for EOG is still needed.
