LibreOffice extra Icon on Ubuntu Dock

Asked by Luis M.Jacinto

LibreOffice ver. 6.4.7.2
 Ubuntu 20.04
On this version of LO when opening a file from Calc or Writer It generates an extra Icon with a dot on Ubuntu Dock instead of just add a dot like use to be and it is on all other application. It is quite difficult to work like this when the majority are different. Is there a way to correct this?
 Thank you

Ahh the updates repo. My mistake, apologies.

If you unpin the icon and close the application so that the icon vanishes then rerun it and repin it, does it help?

On Ubuntu 20.04 LibreOffice does include an icon and a dot on the dock. This is to show which office program is open on the dock.
You could have all the different office programs open at the same time. This will let you know which by the icon. All of the open icons are done this way by default. If you have three different writer programs open each has a dot for the same icon, you can toggle between them by clicking the icon on the dock. It will still have the original icon you pinned on the dock too.

I know LibreOffice as an icon for each application was added to Dock, I have one for LibreOffice Calc and another for LibreOffice Writer.
My point is when opening any of the office applications it crates an EXTRA icon with red dot indicative
of open file when open another it adds another dot an so on.
On other versions before the dot was on icon of the LibreOffice application which was open.
Example: open LibreOffice Calc it will create a dot on its icon and like all other applications on Dock
when opened an dot is created on that application.
Is there a way to get this working as should?
Than you

Can you make a screen shot to show what you mean and upload it to some image hosting site?
It is not clear to me where those dots are shown that you are complaining about.

First icon is Firefox counting 3 down is LibreOffice Calc the next down is LO Writer.
I have LO Calc open there no dot on Calc icon, instead there is an new icon (3 from the bottom)
with LibreOffice on it, all other applications on Dash when open they get the dot on it so it was
LO before this version.

That looks definitely strange and wrong.

How did you start calc that the dots are shown like this?
By clicking on the "calc" icon, or by double-clicking a calc file or ...?

This looks correct.
Sorry, I do not have any idea why your system behaves like this.
