When you unplug the device do you use the safe remove function in the OS before physically unplugging it.

If you reboot the system without the device attached and log in, let the OS settle, connect the device then press CTRL +ALT h T and run:

dmesg | tail ; lsb_release -a ; uname -a; lsusb

What is the output, please?

If you copy and paste the command I gave rather than attempt to retype it then you won't botch it. Copy and paste the entire line of commands I gave and paste it into the terminal and press ENTER

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1190661/shotwell-cant-access-camera
Unmount the camera on file explorer [usually right click and unmount] - Leave it physically connected.
Open Shotwell and click the camera icon - try uploading photos.

Can you help with this problem?
