If you press CTRL + ALT + T does a terminal show up? If so, make sure your system is up to date with:

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
sudo apt dist-upgrade

The first time you use sudo you will need to type your password (you won't get any feedback) then the others will just run

Also make sure that you have the latest BIOS.

Can you help with this problem?
