Ubuntu 20.04 LTS does not start after kernel update

Asked by David Tantono

Hi
I already submit the bug report ([Bug 1930794]) for the future solution. The main problem is that I got a notification to update my kernel to 5.8.0-55 and when I update and reboot my PC. The desktop does not start and when I downgrade my kernel 5.8.0-53. Again, it does not work either. Finally, I have to reimage my PC from the scratch and I lose all of my local data in this situation. But, since this problem is quite common and extremely annoying to my productivity. Is there any stopgap solution for this?

Hi,
I just used xubuntu 20.04 with older kernel 5.8.043 and it works better than 5.8.053 and 5.8.055. So, I wish to keep this kernel on the GRUB for longer-term or I want to keep more than 2 available kernels on the GRUB. IS it possible?

Hi, I'm also facing the same issue as you where Ubuntu 20.04 LTS won't start after last month's kernel update. Someone suggest me navigate to "https://calculadoradeporcentagem.com/". As of yet, I am not sure if the system actually works.

Can you help with this problem?
