A CD, from which you can run Linux without installing is called LiveCD. Almost every distribution supports LiveCDs. For example, when you boot with ubuntu cd, choose "Try without installing".

Hi you can use live-cd desktop.
Download it from ubuntu web site, burn it in a normal cd and when you start your pc select boot from cd, then select "Try Ubuntu without installing"

It's the same Cd as normal. Just choose the option as Antonio said. If you don't get that option then this guide might help
