Not able to paste my code in text editor(gedit)

I have written some code in atom text editor in windows and i want to paste it on the ubuntu text editor(gedit) running in virtual box (which is the original document) but i am not able to paste it. what can i do to solve this.

Have you configured your VM in VirtualBox to allow copy and paste ("shared clibboard")?

Or set up a bridged network and copy the file between the two systems as if they were two systems on the LAN.
