software hunt: need to play VTS-XXX.VOB videos + photo viewer for .gif and .bmp images Current ubuntu 16.04 does not do

I need different ubuntu software to play VTS-XXX.VOB videos + a photo viewer for .gif and .bmp images Current ubuntu 16.04 does not do those. Suggestions much appreciated. Thank you, Dave

Eye Of Gnome should view the images or try Shotwell etc.

For media, I find VLC plays most things
