background crash after suspend

running ubuntu 20.04 lts with livepatch after i wake computer up from suspend the desktop background image shows similar to a white noise screen. any fix for this? this happens everytime from suspend. does not happen on boot. also quick fix is alt-f2 then type "r". looking for a more permanent fix.
