Hello !

According to this page (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsScannersCanon), your Lide 20 should work out of the box if SANE is installed (available in Synaptic).

4400F is yet untested (or there is no report on that page), so please tell us if it worked after installing SANE.

Hope this helps !

Regards,
Benoît

Hi,

I had Dapper installed, and it worked just fine, but since an upgrade to Feisty (via Edgy), it has stopped. xsane recognises the scanner, and from a cold boot I occasionally see about 1/2 a good page in preview, but then I just get a big black image. There are two open bugs on this: bug #87527 and bug #85488

cheers,

Jonathan

I have just checked on the canon website and found this:

Where can I find Linux or other OS drivers for my scanner Canoscan4400F?
Case Id: 7666

Solutions
Canon only develops drivers for Windows and Macintosh, not for Linux or other OS (e.g. PalmOS, Epoc or other PDA).

However, Canon offers customised developer programmes for the following range of Canon products:
# Digital Cameras
# Bubble Jet Printers
# GP Digital Copiers and LBP Printers
# iR Multifunctional Digital Systems

The information for scanners is "classified" and will not be distributed, so there is no program for these products.

You can describe to this program via this website:

The Canoscan 4400F is on loan to a friend at present, I shall sell it to him and see if I can obtain a film scanner which will scan my slides. Another course would be to use his machine to do the scanning or my laptop.

HI. I'd still like to know if that Canoscan 4400F worked.
