cannot find integrated camera

Asked by Roger Stanley Jarvis

After upgrading from 17.10 to 20.04: the integrated camera (in the laptop lid), can no longer be found by software which used it previously (Zoom, Skype, Cheese); if there is a message it simply says, 'no camera available'. Could this be the result of the upgrading process?

I do not see an entry for a camera.
Are you sure that the camera isn't deactivated (e.g. in BIOS setup, or by a certain Fn-key combination?

Thanks - have explored all possible function keys and shortcuts to no avail, but finally discovered how to get into the Bios settings. Could find no reference there, either, but uploading the default settings and saving them has cured the problem!
