Alienware Aurora R7 suspend and start-up issues

Asked by Scissilapex

I was directed to post this upstream from the Pop_OS! Github.

Issue/Bug Description:

I use Pop 20.10 on an Alienware Aurora R7. Sometimes when I suspend the rig, it hangs, which means the side lights don't turn off (when they do, it signifies the computer sleeps) and it is on a black screen that interaction with a keyboard and mouse can't get rid of. A hard restart is the only way to restore the computer back to normal.

But when I restart, the mouse glitches. Last time I did it, the mouse stuck itself near the upper right corner of the password screen. I could drag it away, but it always came back, until I unplugged and plugged it back in. This happened once before that, but with the mouse moving to the left uncontrollably instead, but the process of moving was slower than when it dragged to the upper right.

Steps to reproduce (if you know):
Suspend the computer.
Restart it by pushing the power button.

Expected behavior:
For the computer to suspend normally, the side lights to turn off, and the mouse to act normally after restarts.

PopOS isn't supported here. None of the "Ubuntu based" distributions are supported by Canonical or the Ubuntu community.
I suggest you post on the PopOS forum here:

I was told the dev team does not handle matters like this, this was probably a problem with Ubuntu itself, and the fix that would be better served upstream.

Then I suggest you report a bug. Only Ubuntu and the other releases by Canonical are supported here. You could remove PopOS and install Ubuntu as well

Can you help with this problem?
