Ubuntu 18.04.2 problem

Asked by Andrew Mayer

Hello everyone,

It's been 5 days that I try to install Ubuntu 18.04.2 and it always fails; The installation itself goes well but when I remove the installation drive (iso image) and reboot it, the VM remains stuck at the boot from "HD drive" or at the " grub rescue";

I tried changing the Graphic card to "VMware compatible" and it didn't work, I tried also creating 1Gb partition at the beginning of my disk and it didn't work.

P.S: My config:
HDD: 10TB (50GB for swap and the rest in ext4)
RAM: 50Gb
Processor: (30 cores - Host)

Does anyone know a solution?

This is my ringtones problem: https://kostenloseklingeltone.de/

Thanks

Why Ubuntu 18.04 when 20.04 is available and is also LTS?

If you have a need for 18.04, please use 18.04.5 rather than 18.04.2; you are missing out on important bugfixes in both the installer and the rest of the OS.

This is the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS download that I have in VM. On VM you can select the .iso file directly from your Download folder. After you have already created the guest, when you start the guest it will say select a start-up disk Open the folder on the right of the screen -> Click Add + -> This will open your Download folder to your Host OS. Select the correct .ISO file -> Open -> then click Choose -> Start the Virtual Machine. These instructions are for Oracle VM . No disk involved as .iso media.
I agree with both of the posts above.
