laptop a problem child

Hi all
having problems with ubuntu for about 2 weeks or so
 I have reinstalled 2 times...
 now running 20.10

keeps freezing
sound not working shows dummy input, but did work after reinstall for a short time 1days
did also say the same on live boot from USB then worked the second time.

I think the laptop is dying.

any idea before I run out and a new one.

Sorry that was dummy output

also if I shut the lid it may or may not go to desktop... may let me sign in possible frozen or just won't let me type

I suggest you test your RAM health as a good first step. Make sure you have the latest BIOS too

I reseated the ram.

It's an Asus f555u
Having a hard time finding the bios.

I thought of that a well

The ram health test is a software tool. You can use Memtest86 from grub

I updated the bois...

Definitely better...
I reinstalled Ubuntu was great until it updated, including the kernel now sound broken dummy input back, so the sound is a Ubuntu problem.
