No sound from speakers after removing headphones

Whenever I use my headphones, after I unplug them I can't get any sound to play from the speakers. This persists until I reboot. I've already tried reinstalling alsa, pulseaudio and pavucontrol like suggested in this answer https://askubuntu.com/a/957419 but the behaviour remains the same.

I'm running Ubuntu 20.04.1 on an HP ZBook Studio x360 G5.

Hi, thanks for the links. I've tried the suggestions in the first article and followed the second page until step 8 but I still have the same problem. Should I report a bug?

Yes, please use Apport to help collect data to help with information on your bug report.
Start by opening a terminal: ubuntu-bug linux https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Apport
