Epson V550 Ubuntu 20.04

Asked by Juan Patino Herraiz

Hi everyone.

I'm a beginner user of Ubuntu 20.04. I was trying to scan some 35mm film with Epson 550, with absolutely no success, I installed Epson drivers "iscan-perfection-v550-bundle-2.30.4.x64.deb" but I did not have any luck so far. Before I go to my Windows partition I would like to know if anyone out there had any success on this mission.

I've tried, VuScan, Xsane and Image Scan, non of them showed up the scanner.

Thanks a lot in advance.

have you tried this
https://askubuntu.com/questions/421877/does-the-epson-perfection-v600-photo-scanner-or-v550-work-with-sane#749083

Installing different scanning apps won't make your scanner work any more than installing lots of web browsers won't make your internet connection spring to life

Yes I installed all of them in that particular order, but when I run any scanner app, does not show up. I tried the scanner on Windows and worked totally fine on that OS.

If you open Shotwell will it import photos from the scanner?
GIMP is a photo editor that will import photos. (GNU Image Manipulation Program) It is available in Ubuntu Software Center
Gimp is used by many photographers.

Hi Bernard,

I tried both and there's a pop windows saying, that there isn't any scanner connected. I'm going to try Vue Scan. Let's see...

Can you help with this problem?
