Touchpad stops working shortly after reboot

Asked by Jayce Blomquist

When I restart my computer the touchpad will work briefly then shortly after stops. Even in settings, the touch pad settings are there but then when the touchpad stops working the settings for the touchpad also disappear. I can't find a fix for this problem. I have tried using an older kernel at start up, xorg-synaptics, and libinput without any luck. My laptop is a Dell Precision M6800.

I didn't, but it is now updated and now the touchpad doesn't even work after rebooting.

Are there any messages about the touchpad in the output of the command dmesg?
