keyboard and mouse pad not working after update

Updating Ubuntu 20.04 from 5.0.4.42 to 5.0.4.45 keyboard and mouse not working - display shows login page
boot into 5.0.42 works fine

This problem is on an Acer Laptop ES511.
If I plug a USB mouse and keyboard in it works OK

The laptop has the latest BIOS
It has been working fine until the update yesterday to 5.0.45
If i reboot to using previous 5.0.42 there are no issues
Have run recovery mode with no issues
