Desktop is black, not visible (Lubuntu 20)

Asked by eduard

Am using Lubuntu running on modern Computer (i5), new installation of v20. (german)

Files on Desktop are visible in the pcfm-filemanager, but the desktop itself is black.

KLicking on "Desktop Options" says, that the Desktop Administration is not acitve.

Always when I want to shut the PC down, the question comes: Herunterfahren der LXQT-Sitzung: Möchten Sie wirklich herunterfahren, alle ungespeicherten Arbeiten gehen verloren". (shut down of lxqt-session: do you really want, all unsaved stuff gets lost) Why???

As a desktop environment is installed Cinnamon package.

Am just a normal PC-user, why is this ubuntu-stuff so user-unfriendly? So many problems, although I dont want to do anything special...
Anyone has help?
eddy

Look in the autostart file, do you have :

@pcmanfm --desktop --profile LXDE

I think for Lubuntu it's:

@pcmanfm --desktop --profile lubuntu

(case may vary)

Please say how to look in the autostart file.

ls /etc/xdg/lxsession

Note the folder names. I think Lubuntu makes it's own. Remember that Linux is very case sensitive. You can then run:

cat /etc/xdg/lxsession/foo/autostart

Replace "foo" with the folder name you see. Could be the below:

cat /etc/xdg/lxsession/Lubuntu/autostart

Well, no lxsession, they switched from lxde to lxqt.

Theres an autostart-folder here: /etc/xdg/xdg-Lubuntu/autostart
but it's empty.

I don't know what LXQt uses to draw the desktop icons. You could try pressing ALT + F2 and run:

pcmanfm --desktop

Does it show icons OK?

Im sorry, it doesnt show anything.

Well, in general Im looking for a simple life-style, so I thought Lubuntu is right, but it also seems to get more complicated (lxqt...). Maybe I should go back on v18, also had some problems, but not as many as the new version (which definitely hasnt been tested much).

Ok, seems it was simply gone...
A new installation fixed it!

sudo apt-get install lubuntu-desktop
