nvidia435 erkennt die Bildschirmgröße nicht

Ähnlich wie beim letzten Mal, als der nvidia390 Treiber durch einen Kernel bug nicht korrekt funktionieren konnte, habe ich diesmal wieder dieselbe Art von Fehler: die Bildschirmgröße wird nicht korrekt erkannt und bei nvidia steht nix.

Deinstallation (sudo apt purge *nvidia*) setzt es wieder auf den nouveau Treiber und alles erscheint normal. Dies wurde auch in der Liste der zusätzlichen Treiber bestätigt. Dort ist allerdings auch der nvidia-440 als getestet markiert.

Das letzte Mal bin ich bei dem Fehler auf den 435 gewechselt. Ist der nvidia440 jetzt für meine Grafikkarte (GTX 750Ti) empfohlen?

Ich arbeite mit Ubuntu 18.04.

Ich habe noch mal das Update mit Terminal gemacht und das einzige Auffällige im Terminal war:

W: Possible missing firmare /lib/firmware/rtl_nic/rtl8125a-3.fw for module r8169

Does the system run OK on the nouveau driver? Does it run smoothly and without issue?

So far, no issues.

I need the nvidia driver however, for some steam games.

Ahh I see. Yes you'll probably need it for that. You could try the 430 driver.

You can also download the driver from the Nvidia website, kill the display server then install manually

Why 430??? The 440 was the one recommended (as tested) in the additional drivers tab.

Installed it with:

sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall

sudo reboot

and so far it looks like that solved it. *knocks on wood*

Eventually you could even try the -450 version from one of the PPAs in https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+ppas?name_filter=nvidia-graphics-drivers-450
