Internal Mic not working as expected (audio captured at very low volume and slight static noise when moving slider rapidly)

Hi there,

My internal microphone is not working as expected. It is detected in Settings -> Sound as well as pavucontrol. However, the captured mic audio seems to be at a very low volume, and only a slight static noise can be heard when i move the mic volume slider rapidly.

P.S. this is my first time posting on this forum, so please let me know if there are any guidelines, and also the additional information that I need to provide to debug this issue.

Have you tried increasing "Mic Boost" in alsamixer?

Yes Daniel. In alsamixer -> Capture tab (F4) i increase all the sliders including the Internal Mic Boost and Mic Boost and then exit. Still the same.
