Guest profile no longer logs in after changing userroot password in recovery

After i changed the password for my user profile i am no longer able to use guest user. Guest comes up at log in screen under user but, when selected to log in the screen begins to flicker and all onscreen texts accept ubuntu 16.04 ltd logo and eventually screen blacksout. I have tried to fix broken files from recovery which fixed alot just not the guest user

Do the file systems have free space?
You may want to boot to Ubuntu live CD / USB and run an fsck on your internal drives...
