Installing Apache

Asked by Gordon Murray on 2020-05-25

I have plex media server installed on ubuntu 20.04 and I've tried installing apache previously but plex then couldn't be seen by other devices. I wondering if anyone can help me install apache alongside plex?

Isn't there a way to do it so that plex doesn't have to run through apache?

You can use nginx if you like

According to:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/200288586-installation/

It's just :
Download the .deb package
run sudo dpkg -i plexmediaserver_0.9.8.18.290-11b7fdd_amd64.deb (replacing the last filename with the name of the package you downloaded)
To setup Plex Media Server, on the same machine you installed the server on, open a browser window, and go to http://127.0.0.1:32400/web.

So I can install apache normally? Does it have to do with the ports being used?

I don't think it needs Apache unless its a dependency of Plex

I use plex but I want to install apache to learn about web server and build websites. I'm looking to have them both installed and working alongside each other.

OK then change the port that Apache uses to something else

Can you help with this problem?
