I want to change the 20.04 login screen image

Asked by tadiv

So, I upgraded to 20.04 yesterday and am bewing greeted on login by this completely ridiculous graphic provided by Ubuntu. I have tried the steps outlined in https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/690000 and have not had success though the script at https://github.com/thiggy01/ubuntu-20.04-change-gdm-background reports success, my login screen has not changed. I tried it with both .png and .jpg files - both reported success, but the login screen remains the original.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Tom

I executed the steps in workaround 2 - the script reported success, but the image is not changed. Specifically:

wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/PRATAP-KUMAR/focalgdm3/master/focalgdm3.sh
sudo apt install libglib2.0-dev
sudo focalgdm3.sh --set

It seems that my system is using lightdm - any suggestions on changing the graphic used there?
