restricted nvidia drivers version 180 and adding display

Asked by Xander {MP}

I am running Jaunty and the restricted nvidia drivers. Everything is working fine except that when at home I want my laptop to connect to an external display via hdmi cable. The hdmi connection seems to be working it can detect the display and all that. However I cannot get the separate x screen option to work with the nvidia driver it can not apply the settings. It works well with the twin display setting enabled and Jaunty sees it as a dual screen system, but not separate screen feature. Can someone tell what is going on?

Thx,

Octavio

Here's a doc that can help with dual screens:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Xorg_RandR_1.2#Using_xrandr_to_do_useful_things

Backup your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file first though.

Can you help with this problem?
