wifi not working after ubuntu installation

I recently installed ubunto to replace my macbook os lion, wifi could not connect, tried several ways but now it show wifi connected but firefox is giving me a server not found error, does the installation provide the needed drivers? or do I need to download them from somewhere?

As its a macbook, you move the system to where a wired connection can be used to get fully updated. You can also use this connection to give the output of:

sudo lshw -C network; lsb_release -a; uname -a; sudo rfkill list
