Copy and paste or type
update-manager -d

go to update manager and open it,then it will load and you will see upgrade to 9.04 click update,Warning: it will take a long time

Okay Thank You! I use Ubuntu 8.4. So is necessary to update to 9.04 version?

 At first I was asking a question about moving from 8.10 to 9.04 for my brother. He uses 8.10 version. But as for me I use Ubuntu 8.4 version.

It's the same...8.04 is an LTS (Long Time Supported) version... so you can upgrade to 9.04
as if I were on 8.10...

Oh then all you need to do is make a live cd of Ubuntu 9.04, which can be found here http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download then download the ISO image (aka) the file, then with any cd/dvd burner burn it on the cd,once thats done put the cd in the disk drive restart the computer and press F12 or what ever it says to do for Boot options,then select cd/dvd drive then 9.04 the start.
