I want to turn on my wireless Broadcom 4309 on my laptop Dell D610

Asked by esaldana

I'm new using ubuntu and I cant turn on my Wifi connection, normally under windows XP I will see the LED light that indicates de card is on.
I've read several post in different places but I cant really understand how to proceed.

I executed command lspci -v and this is the output:
03:03.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4309 802.11a/b/g (rev 03)
        Subsystem: Dell Truemobile 1450 MiniPCI
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 64, IRQ 18
        Memory at dfcfe000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]
For iwconfig:
eth1 IEEE 802.11b/g ESSID:"" Nickname:"Broadcom 4306"
          Mode:Managed Access Point: Invalid
          RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Link Quality=0/100 Signal level=-256 dBm Noise level=-256 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

I'm using ubuntu 7.04

I think I need to turn it on, Ive played with the BIOS but no good results.

Thanks

Have a look at this : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx/Feisty

If there is something you don't understand, if it works or not, tell it to us, in order to help you more, or in order to explain you how to mark this as "resolved".

Hope that it helps you.

I clicked the first link that explained how was done with previous Ubuntu versions, followed and it worked, just have to add a final step which It was to turn on the Card by FN+F2.

Thanks a lot!!
