Ubuntu+1 20.04 Pavilion g6-2090ca stuck in Airplane mode

Asked by Mr. Berzerk

I asked this over as "ask ubuntu" and was told to post it here.

"I'm getting ready to switch to Ubuntu 20.04 on a few PCs.

I've installed it on an older Core i5 Pavilion g6-2090ca, and it is getting stuck in Airplane mode when starting. Wifi just will not start no matter what.

I've followed various instructions on other posts about blacklisting the module, but that doesn't seem to work. When I do Fn + F12((i)) on the KB, it will flash the Airplane on the screen when it is turned 'on' and flash nothing when 'off'."

Ubuntu is installed dual boot with windows onto a 480gb ssd.
Exact Model of Laptop: HP Pavilion g6-2090ca
Can't connect to any wireless network, so network name is irrelevant.

Do you have the latest BIOS? This may help. Is this a dual boot system or is Ubuntu the only OS on the laptop?

It has the latest bios.. . . I think. I'll double check.
It is dualing booting Windows and Ubuntu, via Grub.
Windows works fine.
