Zoom for Lubuntu?

Asked by Scott Groffman

When installing zoom, the video conferencing program, from the zoom website, it shows several options for downloading for Linux. However, it does not show an option for Lubuntu. I tried the "other linux OS" option as well as the plain "ubuntu" option, neither with any luck. Is it possible to run zoom on lubuntu?

Lubuntu is just Ubuntu but uses the LXDE desktop environment instead of Gnome. If you are manually downloading packages then the ones for Ubuntu will work just fine

What part "doesn't work" with the Ubuntu version? The download? The installation once downloaded? Can you please explain what you are trying, what is happening and what you expect to happen and we may be able to assist.

Thanks

Thanks for your answer. When I try downloading the Ubuntu package, I open the package with GDebi Package Installer and click Install, but the application closes and nothing else happens.

What if you use. CLI and use:

sudo dpkg -i filename.deb

(obviously change the filename to your deb including the path) do you get any useful output? If you give the filename and location I can hive you the exact command if this confuses you.

I couldn't figure out the path, but I successfully installed by opening the file in its location and then I right clicked on it and selected "software install." That opened an application called software which did the trick. Thanks!
