updating 17.04 in 2020. An upgrade from 'zesty' to 'bionic' is not supported with this tool.

Asked by Joe Alt

I am trying to update my Laptop 32 bit to a higher version.
I followed these steps below and had no successful answer. Can you help me?

Open the "Software & Updates" Setting in System Settings.
Select the 3rd Tab called "Updates".
Set the "Notify me of a new Ubuntu version" dropdown menu to "For any new version".
Press Alt+F2 and type in "update-manager -c" (without the quotes) into the command box.

An upgrade from 'zesty' to 'bionic' is not supported with this tool.

Support for Ubuntu 17.04 (zesty) has ended more than two years ago. Upgrading from a release that has already gone out of support is possible, but may require some additional steps.

What output do you receive when you execute the command

sudo do-release-upgrade

?
