I lost all of my passwords and form data

Asked by dustin

Maybe it happened after an update but I lost all of my logins to hundreds of sites. Many of them work related and shared with coworkers. I usually use firefox and thought firefox was the issue but then I opened chrome and noticed every password gone. This seems to have affected my form auto-completes. Chrome should have been synced. I have to use my windows desktop now because this is going to eat into my work time so much. I'm guessing as usual there is no way to fix this accept go through the long painful process of re saving passwords by going back between computers and looking for passwords. Then just to lose them again with my luck because of all the bugs with ubuntu and ubuntu related software. Any ideas?

Did you setup sync in Chrome to happen?
Is there no functionality to export the stored details?
If you use something like lastpass then it's stored nicely online for you or use keepass or similar and copy the credentials between the two systems. Lots of possibilities

Google sync should have been setup but I didn't get it to work last time I tried. I'm thinking of using lastpass again

If this is an issue with Chrome, then you should check https://support.google.com/chrome/thread/4369710?hl=en and the pages linked from there.

What's in the directory ~/.config/google-chrome ?

Can you help with this problem?
