screen corruption with mesa 20.0.0-1

Asked by brett hassall

Hi

I'm seeing screen corruption with mesa 20 after my last Focal Fossa update. It is most noticeable in Firefox when you open a drop down menu and run the mouse up and down the menu. The menu and the blue menu item highlight become corrupted and unreadable. The corruption area repaints properly if the mouse is moved slightly.

I have reverted to the following packages - ./libegl-mesa0_19.3.3-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb ./libgbm1_19.3.3-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb ./libgl1-mesa-dri_19.3.3-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb ./libglapi-mesa_19.3.3-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb ./libglx-mesa0_19.3.3-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb.
The problem is resolved.

Laptop is a Dell Precision 5530 running with nouveau.modeset=0 (to improve battery life as workload is not video intensive) so the video card in use must be the Intel UHD 630.

Do I report this as a Ubuntu bug?

Thanks
Brett

Do you see effects similar to the ones described in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1864274
with https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/issues/2552
or
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1864778
?

If yes, then you might add your information into (the relevant one of) these bug reports. If your issue is different, then you should create a new bug report.

The conditions of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1864274 do no exactly match my situation however the workaround in https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/issues/2552 does resolve my problem ie. MESA_LOADER_DRIVER_OVERRIDE=i965 startx

I shall add information to mesa issue 2552.

Thank you m-hampl
