Thunderbird freezes on start up

Thunderbird freezes on start up. This has happened twice already. Hardy x64 8.04 LTS, the latest T-bird. How do I fix? Have no compiz enabled, only the basic driver for ATI Radeon which comes with the hardy install. Please help.

Figured it out. The lightning add-on in T-bird 2.0.0.21 (hardy x64 8.04 LTS) is freezing T-bird upon start-up as it is trying to update itself, but the update is not for x-64, so T-bird freezes completely. Can anyone notify the guy who did this add-on? I had to get rid of the add-on to get back T-bird. This is unacceptable.
