Windows apps & browser use in Linux

Asked by v

Have been a long time user of Windows. Recently, I have started utilizing Linux and for the most part pleased with the functionality it offers most users and am a novice so there is a lot I dont know and still learning. I noticed that Microsoft has actively selected to be able to use google, linux, and macos apps in their systems. Furthermore, they are planning to use later version of windows 12, based on linux. The question is that I am unable to explain why the same apps such as chrome and firefox that are utilized in windows are not able to do all the same things and access all the websites in linux? Also, do you plan to have in the software library where one can utilize apps from google android and microsoft store by being able to use them in linux in the future? I believe being able to replicate and do all the things that windows does and is putting concerted effort in being able to use/copy other major platforms and apps in their system is likely something that would be good to do in Linux as well.

The browsers can access the exact same websites in any OS. They obey the same standards. They display the same websites the same.

Most things are a browser app now so you can use those to replicate functionality easily. O365 web UI is particularly easy or even Google Docs.

I am not knowledgeable in behind the scene functionality of O365 web UI or even google docs. Obviously, office 365 is same as google docs and believe webbased. I am sure can obtain via linux library if needed.
As a user of linux OS, I select the browser from the library, chromium/chrome equivalent for linux, or firefox and attempt to
select the same website as one would when in windows or MacOS using the same browsers. One is able navigate the site in windows and MacOS with the above browsers but not able to in linux. I do not know why that is. There are multiple sites that have come across and am sure that the browser providers (firefox and chrome) are aware of the difference as they appear to treat windows & MacOS same only linux is treated differently. One such site is www.vudu.com. you will be able to view all free videos using chrome or firefox in windows and MacOS but not able to in linux using chromium and firefox.

when utilizing MacOS or windows that questions never arises it simply works.
It seems you should know better since all info has been shared with you.
Are you able to suggest something that can be found in the linux library that can go with
chromium or firefox that will allow the website to work?
If not, you will not be helpful in resolving the matter.

why dont you try contacting microsoft maybe they can help you with your phone because the website is working in windows.

In terms of the original question and being able to understand why there are differences in browsers that are used in linux versus windows and how to make them equivalent to be able to run and navigate all the same sites, that question still remains. If you have knowledge on this subject and are able to offer a solution fine otherwise dont bother. Why is there a difference in firefox, chromium browsers in linux versus what they offer in windows & MacOS? Understanding those difference and having a solution to make up for those differences either from something offered in linux library or other means.

Can you help with this problem?
